Yesterday’s charm with today’s modernity
Established in 1709, Ridgefield has a tradition steeped in history and the maintenance of its small-town New England charm. In 1777, the American Revolution’s Battle of Ridgefield was fought here, with American generals attempting to hold off the British soldiers from Connecticut’s soil. Ridgefield’s Main Street is a beautiful mix of varied shopping historic mansions. The town’s population of about 24,000 residents enjoy this pedestrian-friendly shopping region.
Residents of Ridgefield live in a mix of renovated colonials, spacious contemporary residences, mid-century ranch homes, and a spattering of small lakefront communities. Condominium complexes are available for those who prefer the no-outside-maintenance lifestyle. Home prices range from condos in the $200,000’s to sprawling multi-million dollar estates.
Ridgefield borders New York’s Westchester County, providing for a perfect commuter location to New York or lower Fairfield County. A variety of recreational activities exist, including the town’s own recreation center, and a number of parks and small lakes.
The Ridgefield Public Schools include six elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
